'Boys in Juvenile Detention Learn from Korea's Master Craftsmen'
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold a "Master's Special Lecture" by Shin Hwanam, director of Shin Hwanam Beauty Gallery, for about 20 juvenile detainees in the Hair Design class at Oryun Information Industry School (Busan Juvenile Detention Center) at 1:30 PM on the 26th.
This special lecture is part of the "Oryun Information Industry School Education Support Plan" announced by the Busan Office of Education last June. It was conducted to enhance the goal awareness of juvenile detainees preparing to participate in the local skills competition and to help them acquire technical qualifications.
Shin Hwanam, who has been on the path of a beauty technician for 43 years this year, was recognized for his skills as Busan City's first master craftsman in the beauty field, an excellent skilled technician by the Ministry of Labor, and was selected as a Master of Korea in 2022.
Additionally, Director Shin was awarded the Presidential Citation in 2007 and 2013 and the Stone Tower Industrial Medal in 2021 for his contributions to increasing student employment rates and nurturing talent in industrial sites. He served as vice president of the Korea Skilled Technicians National Federation and actively engages in various volunteer activities as the head of the nonprofit organization "Shin Hwanam Sharing Volunteer Group."
In the special lecture, Master Shin Hwanam plans to conduct education that will raise the interest and enthusiasm of the juvenile detainees by offering advice on outstanding technical skills, know-how, and a strong sense of professionalism.
The Busan Office of Education emphasized that this special lecture is expected to provide practical help in preparing for the skills competition by allowing juvenile detainees to gain information and tips that are not easily obtained during their regular training process.
Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "This master's special lecture is a meaningful step to help juvenile detainees take their first step toward social settlement and independence," adding, "Our education office will continue to do its best to provide an educational environment where they can nurture their dreams as members of the community."
