View original imageThe World Taekwondo Hanmadang held in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, concluded its four-day schedule and closed on the 24th.
Seongnam City announced on the 25th that the '2023 Seongnam World Taekwondo Hanmadang' event was held from the 21st to the 24th, with 4,298 Taekwondo practitioners from 57 countries around the world participating.
The athletes who participated in this event showcased their skills in 71 categories across 13 events, including breaking, creative poomsae, and Taekwon gymnastics.
At the opening ceremony held on the 22nd, the patriotic song was performed in a pansori version, and Mayor Shin Sang-jin of Seongnam attracted attention by receiving an honorary 7th dan certificate in Taekwondo from Lee Dong-seop, President of Kukkiwon.
A Seongnam City official stated, "This competition reaffirmed the cultural assets and values of Taekwondo and established Seongnam as a global Taekwondo city," adding, "One of the achievements was successfully conducting a large-scale international event without any safety accidents."
