The Jeju Regional Aviation Office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Director Na Woong-jin) announced on the 24th that it has designated the 22-day period from the 25th to the 15th of next month as the "Special Traffic Measures Period for the Summer Vacation Season" and has prepared and will implement "special traffic measures" to provide a safe and comfortable traffic environment for tourists using Jeju Airport.

Accordingly, the Jeju Regional Aviation Office and Korea Airports Corporation Jeju Airport conducted special inspections of airport facilities, equipment, and areas where aircraft move, and established passenger transport plans such as improving terminal convenience and alleviating parking lot congestion.

Additionally, to create a welcoming atmosphere for customers during the vacation season, media art will be displayed inside the airport, and a trendy pop-up store popular with children will be opened to ensure travelers using Jeju Airport can use the facilities conveniently.

To ensure the safety of passengers at Jeju Airport, special alcohol inspections targeting aviation workers such as pilots, mechanics, and flight attendants will be conducted regularly, and campaigns to raise awareness about alcohol consumption before flights will also be carried out.

A flood and wind damage situation room and special traffic measures team will operate 24 hours a day during the period to respond promptly to emergencies such as weather warnings (heavy rain, typhoons) and abnormal flight operations.

Airlines and aircraft handlers operating at Jeju Airport are also preparing thoroughly by establishing their own special traffic measures for the summer vacation demand, conducting special training for workers on abnormal situation response manuals, and regulations protecting air traffic users.

According to Korea Airports Corporation Jeju Airport, during this special traffic period, the number of passengers is expected to be approximately 1,825,560 (an average of 82,980 per day), a 4% decrease compared to the previous year, and the number of flights is expected to be 10,509 (an average of 478 per day), a 2% decrease compared to the previous year.

A Jeju Airport official said, "Congestion is expected as airport users will be concentrated during this summer vacation period," and added, "We ask that people check traffic and terminal conditions frequently through the media and follow the guidance of the respective airlines when using the airport."
