‘Eunpyeong-type Temporary Emergency Welfare Support’ provides up to 500,000 KRW per household for living expenses, medical expenses, housing costs, and more
Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced that it is expanding the operation of the emergency welfare support system to assist vulnerable groups facing economic difficulties in crisis situations.
The emergency welfare support system is designed to quickly provide emergency living expenses, medical expenses, housing costs, education expenses, and more to low-income households struggling to maintain their livelihood due to sudden crises such as unemployment, business closure, illness, injury, natural disasters, or crime victimization. It is supported in both national and Seoul-type formats to help individuals overcome crisis situations.
In addition, Eunpyeong-gu has separately allocated district funds to promote the ‘Eunpyeong-type Temporary Emergency Welfare Support’ to assist households experiencing practical difficulties such as overdue utility bills, overdue housing costs, and medical expenses.
The eligibility criteria for Eunpyeong-type and Seoul-type emergency welfare support are ▲household income at or below 100% of the median income (5.4 million KRW for a four-person household in a metropolitan city) ▲general property valued at 409 million KRW or less ▲financial assets of 10 million KRW or less ▲housing property deduction amount of 69 million KRW ▲financial asset deduction amount of 5.4 million KRW for a four-person household.
The national-type emergency welfare support criteria are ▲household income at or below 75% of the median income (4.05 million KRW for a four-person household in a metropolitan city) ▲property valued at 241 million KRW or less ▲financial assets of 6 million KRW or less.
Recipients of the Eunpyeong-type Temporary Emergency Welfare Support can receive up to 500,000 KRW per household for living expenses, medical expenses, and housing costs. Seoul-type emergency welfare support recipients can receive living expenses of up to 1.62 million KRW for a four-person household, medical expenses up to 1 million KRW, and housing costs up to 1 million KRW.
Applications for Eunpyeong-type and Seoul-type emergency welfare support can be made through welfare consultations at the local community service centers. Eligible applicants are first reviewed by welfare planners and then decided through internal case meetings within the community center.
For national-type emergency welfare support, applications for living and housing support can be submitted at the local community service center of the applicant’s address, and medical support applications can be made at the district office’s Welfare Policy Division. Once selected as a beneficiary, customized emergency funds are provided, including living expenses of 1.62 million KRW, medical expenses of 3 million KRW, and housing costs of 660,000 KRW for a four-person household.
