Busan Port Authority Selected as 'Excellent Weather Management Institution' for 9 Consecutive Years
Busan Port Authority (BPA) was selected for the ninth consecutive year on the 21st as an ‘Excellent Weather Management Institution’ hosted by the Korea Meteorological Administration.
The Excellent Weather Management Institution is a certification system selected by the head of the Korea Meteorological Administration for companies that actively utilize weather information such as abnormal temperatures, typhoons, and droughts in their business management, and is selected through evaluation and review by the Korea Meteorological Industry and Technology Institute.
BPA was recognized for having a disaster response system and manual for wind and flood disasters and tidal disasters, and has been selected as an ‘Excellent Weather Management Institution’ for nine consecutive years since its first selection in 2014.
BPA operates a disaster safety dedicated organization (Disaster Safety Office) directly under the president to create a safe Busan Port from natural disasters such as typhoons, strong winds, and heavy rain.
The Disaster Safety Office proactively responds to disaster situations by providing weather information to related organizations during weather deterioration using meteorological information.
In addition, BPA has been making continuous efforts to ensure uninterrupted operation of Busan Port and to establish a cooperative system with related organizations, such as conducting disaster response safety drills for natural disaster response, continuously operating the ship evacuation council, and establishing a disaster mitigation activity management system.
