A man in his 50s who pretended to wake up a drunk person sleeping on a sidewalk in Jeju but instead stole valuables and ran away was caught by the police.
The Jeju Dongbu Police Station announced on the 21st that they have applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 50s, identified as A, on charges of theft for stealing valuables from the pocket of a drunk person.
A is accused of rifling through the pocket of victim B, who was drunk and asleep on a mattress placed on a sidewalk in Jeju City at around 11:56 p.m. on the 12th, stealing a mobile phone and 1.8 million won in cash.

Police, responding to B’s report, identified A’s appearance through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the scene. Continuing the investigation, they urgently arrested A at around 12:45 a.m. on the 21st while he was wandering the streets of Ido-dong, Jeju City.
