A man in his 30s dies after being hit by a 33-ton forklift at Changwon factory
At around 1:35 PM on the 20th, a man in his 30s was struck and killed by a 33-ton forklift on a road inside the Hyosung Heavy Industries Plant 3 in Seongsan-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam.
According to the Changwon Jungbu Police Station on the 21st, office worker A, who was walking, was on the right side of the forklift driven by a dispatched worker B in his 50s from a partner company when the accident occurred.
A suffered severe head and back injuries and was transported to the hospital immediately after the accident but passed away around 5 PM that day.
The police have booked B on charges of violating the duty of safe driving under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident based on witness statements and CCTV footage inside the factory.
The factory, which employs more than 50 regular workers, is subject to the Serious Accident Punishment Act and has currently been shut down by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
