Marine Corps member missing during search found downstream of Yecheon Bomun Bridge, life status unknown
A Marine who went missing while searching for a missing person in Yecheon-gun, Gyeongbuk, was found on the morning of the 19th near the downstream area of Bomun Bridge in Bomun-myeon, and his life status is being confirmed.
According to the Gyeongbuk Fire Department, in Yecheon-gun, which was declared a special disaster area on the morning of the same day due to heavy rain causing landslides and significant damage, a Marine from the 1st Division was deployed for search operations around 9 a.m. While searching the Naeseongcheon area in Hwangji-ri, Homyeon-myeon, he fell into the river and was swept away by the rapid current.
In Yecheon-gun, search operations were underway to find five missing persons who have not yet returned from this disaster.
The Marine, who had been deployed to the search site since the 18th, was searching for missing persons along with fellow soldiers in formation from the morning of the 19th in the Naeseongcheon area of Hwangji-ri, Homyeon-myeon, and Miho-ri, Bomun-myeon, when he fell into the river.
Other Marines who fell into the water during the search managed to escape the rapid current, but this Marine was swept away about 20 meters downstream and disappeared.
