On the 18th, Mayor Lee Gang-deok of Pohang presided over an expanded executive meeting in the city hall's main conference room to discuss strategies for landslide response in preparation for heavy rain.

In addition, it was decided to strengthen cooperation between related departments and affiliated organizations to establish a response system including pre-evacuation and frequent inspections.
Furthermore, as typhoons and heavy rains increase annually, efforts will be made to fully prepare systematic disaster relief measures for evacuees to protect them and support their swift return to daily life. A comprehensive emergency safety plan will be activated to protect citizen safety through a thorough safety net against summer monsoons and heatwaves.
In particular, Mayor Lee instructed the preparation of practical and rapidly applicable evacuation manuals and systems for residents in low-lying flood-prone areas, along with conducting corresponding evacuation drills.
Alongside this, he called for the designation of a secondary battery specialized complex, the establishment of a research-centered medical school, and the focused promotion of the bio-health industry as mid- to long-term key policies for Pohang’s sustainable future development.
Mayor Lee Gang-deok emphasized, “I urge everyone to always prioritize citizen safety and to ensure a flawless disaster preparedness system through thorough prior preparation and swift response in emergencies to minimize damage.”
