Gwanak-gu (District Mayor Park Junhee) has launched an all-out effort to achieve zero casualties by urgently inspecting landslide-prone areas to prevent disaster accidents that may occur due to the recent continuous heavy rains.
Considering that the ground may have weakened due to the recent heavy and intense rainfall, the district conducted an emergency reinspection on the 17th of landslide-prone areas, stone walls, and sewer manholes.
In particular, Park Junhee, the mayor of Gwanak-gu, who visited the landslide-prone sites on that day, emphasized preventive measures to ensure that residents suffer no damage to life or property, noting that 46.8% of Gwanak-gu’s total area is green space. (Photo)
Mayor Park carefully inspected three locations near Sillim Middle School, including landslide-prone areas and steep slopes, together with officials, to ensure that not a single case of damage occurs in the future.
Additionally, with rain expected over the weekend, each neighborhood was urged to secure drainage by removing rainwater drain covers and debris, and to recheck residential retaining walls, stone walls, and construction sites to thoroughly prevent damage.
The district operates the ‘Gwanak-gu Disaster Safety Situation Room,’ a 24-hour emergency response system throughout the year to prevent flood damage, and has completed prior preparations to immediately operate major disaster prevention facilities in the area such as detention basins and rainwater pumping stations, focusing on damage prevention.
