Publication of Overseas Media Trends Issue 2, ChatGPT: Opportunity or Crisis for Media?
‘Age of AI’ · ‘The Rise of AI Friedman and the Future of Media’
The Korea Press Foundation has published the second issue of "Overseas Media Trends" titled "ChatGPT: Opportunity or Crisis for Media?". To provide diverse perspectives on generative artificial intelligence, it includes two articles: "Age of AI" and "The Emergence of AI Friedman and the Future of Media." The authors are Shin Giju, Vice President of The Milk Korea, and Lee Sangdeok, Silicon Valley Correspondent for Maeil Business Newspaper.
In "Age of AI," the newly emerging "generative AI" market is discussed, introducing the current status of generative AI development in news media through the BloombergGPT case. It points out that as the era evolves toward fine-tuning generative AI and multi-modal generative AI, news organizations may gain opportunities to improve productivity but also face crises as content providers.
"The Emergence of AI Friedman and the Future of Media" explores the potential of AI media adoption through experiments in column generation and image generation using ChatGPT. It introduces issues related to AI technology such as copyright infringement, ownership disputes over creative works, relevant legal precedents, and the current status of AI regulatory policies.
