Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is ushering in an "era of a 10 trillion KRW budget" to secure momentum for regional development.
Since the 7th elected term, the district has overcome the challenges of poor local finances and established an "External Policy Team" to focus administrative efforts on attracting external funds for smooth progress of district affairs.
As a result, from the launch of the 8th elected term in July last year until June this year, a total of 83.1 billion KRW in external funds has been secured from the central government, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and others, which are being invested in various projects that residents can directly feel, such as the public cable maintenance project and the expansion of Smart Village distribution.
In particular, the district has achieved results in 89 public contest projects including regional innovation startup activation support, Seoul-type New Deal jobs, and traditional market facility modernization, securing a total of 18.9 billion KRW, and is striving to revitalize the local economy by creating jobs for residents.
To lay the foundation for securing external funds, the district improved the management system for external public contest projects in the first half of this year and has been making various efforts such as conducting employee capacity-building training.
Going forward, the district plans to devote all efforts to attracting external funds and to do its best to introduce innovative and excellent policies for residents by utilizing the secured resources.
During the 4 years of the 7th elected term, the district secured a total of 894.2 billion KRW in external funds including public contest projects, special grants, and special subsidies.
