In Yecheon-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, a woman in her 60s who had gone missing was eventually found dead, bringing the death toll from the recent heavy rains in Gyeongbuk Province to 19 as of the afternoon of the 16th.
According to the fire authorities on the day, Ms. A, who went missing in Baekseok-ri, Hyoja-myeon, Yecheon-gun, was found dead around 4:30 p.m. on the 16th.
Ms. A went missing along with her husband after their house was buried in a landslide caused by heavy rain at 5:16 a.m. on the 15th. Police and rescue workers discovered Ms. A's body about 20 meters from her buried house while searching the surrounding area.
In Yecheon, a total of 9 people died and 8 went missing due to the recent heavy rains. In Gyeongbuk Province, from the 13th to the 15th, the heavy rains have caused 19 deaths and 7 missing persons so far.
