"Residents Claim Damage from Blasting Work VS Golf Course Denies with No Evidence, Standoff Persists"
Residents Claim Cracks, Leaks, and Mold in Homes During Construction
Golf Course Side Says Dispute Committee Rejected Claims... Demands Are Excessive
Residents near a golf course built in Daedong-myeon, Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, are demanding compensation, claiming they suffered damages during the construction, but the construction company maintains that it cannot acknowledge the claims, leading to a standoff.
If the disagreement between the two sides continues without resolution, there is a possibility that the dispute could escalate into a legal battle.
According to residents of Daedong-myeon, Hampyeong-gun, on the 17th, they are demanding compensation for damages incurred during the construction of the currently operating A Golf Course.
Since November 2021, blasting work during the golf course construction caused cracks and tile damage on the interior and exterior walls of buildings.
Some households claim that water leakage occurred due to cracks inside the buildings, leading to mold growth.
During construction, A Golf Course conducted on-site investigations and compensated some village residents with about 700,000 KRW or supported repairs for buildings with defects. However, five households did not reach an agreement with the golf course, and although they applied for dispute mediation with the Jeonnam Environmental Dispute Mediation Committee, their request was dismissed.
Resident A said, “We suffered damages such as water leakage and mold growth on interior wallpaper due to cracks caused by blasting during the golf course construction, but the golf course officials are mocking the residents by offering absurd compensation amounts,” expressing frustration.

In response, a golf course official stated, “The issue was dismissed by the dispute committee, and the building defects are unrelated to the blasting work, so there is nothing we can do. We ask that excessive demands stop.”
