Through this agreement, LG AI Research Institute and KIPO plan to develop a 'Patent Expert AI' that can be utilized for administrative services such as searching, classifying, and summarizing patent documents. To this end, KIPO will provide patent information it holds, including AI training data, and share know-how gained from developing existing patent-dedicated AI services. LG AI Research Institute will build and transfer the patent-dedicated super large AI model and offer related training opportunities to actively utilize it.

Earlier, since June, LG AI Research Institute and the Patent Information Service have begun preliminary work to collect and process patent documents for training the super large AI language model 'EXAONE Universe' to build the 'Patent Expert AI.'

Bae Kyung-hoon, Director of LG AI Research Institute, said, "I believe that combining KIPO's patent data and know-how with LG's AI technology can create greater synergy," adding, "We will work closely with KIPO to create a global advanced use case for super large AI."
