Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will operate a child meal support program from July 14 to August 28 to address meal gaps caused by the suspension of school meals during the summer vacation period for over 1,400 vulnerable children in the district.

The summer vacation meal recipients are children under 18 years old with household income at or below 52% of the median income, who are at risk of food insecurity due to reasons such as absence of guardians or economic difficulties making it hard to provide meals at home.

Each eligible child will receive meal cost support of 8,000 KRW per meal, and depending on the child's preference, meals will be provided through the Dream Tree Card for use at regular restaurants, home-style lunchbox delivery, or group meals at local child centers.

Applications for summer vacation meals can be submitted with a child meal application form, income verification documents, and proof of risk of food insecurity via the ‘Bokjiro’ website or at the nearest community service center.

The district will conduct on-site inspections of lunchbox manufacturers and meal card affiliated stores to ensure clean and safe meals. Additionally, hygiene inspections and food safety education will be carried out in cooperation with the Yangcheon-gu Child Meal Management Support Center at 23 local child centers providing group meals.

Mayor Lee Gi-jae of Yangcheon-gu said, “Through this child meal support program, we hope our children can spend their summer vacation healthily and happily without worrying about meals.”
