Postponement of Myeongnak Meeting Due to 'Nakji Tangtangi'? 'Strong Fandom' Still a Hot Topic
The meeting between former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon and current Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, known as the 'Myeong-Nak meeting,' which was scheduled for the previous day, was postponed due to a heavy rain warning caused by torrential rain. Meanwhile, some suggest that opposition from a hardline fandom within the Democratic Party supporter community 'Blue Wave' may have influenced the postponement. While the anti-Lee faction is raising their voices to address the hardline fandom issue, the pro-Lee faction insists it is merely a 'store opening effect' and that individual thoughts cannot be controlled.
On the 12th, Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Sang-min from the anti-Lee faction responded to a question from CBS's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' asking, "Did the voices opposing the Myeong-Nak meeting within Blue Wave influence the meeting?" by saying, "Such circumstances probably did not have a positive effect," affirming the possibility.
Blue Wave is a recently established Democratic Party supporter community, where many derogatory expressions targeting former leader Lee and his supporters, such as 'nakji' (octopus) and 'subak' (watermelon), have been posted, causing controversy. When the host mentioned words like 'nakji tangtangi,' lawmaker Lee said, "Even if there are grudges, such expressions are intended to provoke belittlement, disparagement, or hatred toward the other side," adding, "The Democratic Party values democracy and human rights as its highest principles, and as party members, such expressions should not be used."
He continued, "Do you think such behavior would be seen positively by the general public?" and said, "Various measures need to be taken in combination, but for those who go to such extremes, whether they are supporters of this leader or that, anyone who uses such extreme hateful expressions or discriminatory language should be disciplined."
On the other hand, Kim Young-jin, the pro-Lee party leader's political coordination office chief, said on SBS's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' regarding the posts on Blue Wave, "I think it is understandable to say that. Since it is a new product launch, people come and make a lot of noise," adding, "No one can control or regulate each individual's thoughts, right?"
The pro-Lee Nak-yeon faction argues that restoring trust between former leader Lee and current leader Lee is a priority, but the pro-Lee Jae-myung faction prioritizes a quick meeting. He emphasized that the postponed meeting will take place soon, saying, "We plan to meet and roughly schedule it for next week. It will probably be early next week."

He added, "The issue of trust is not just between Lee Jae-myung and Lee Nak-yeon but primarily about the public's trust in the Democratic Party," and said, "Within that, it is necessary to raise the party's trust and simultaneously work on increasing the trust between the two leaders through ongoing efforts."
