Pohang City to Implement Public Work and Community Job Projects in the Second Half of This Year
Under 3 hours per day for those aged 65 and over
Up to 6 hours per day for those under 65
From the 12th, Pohang City will launch the 2023 second half public work and community job projects.
The public work and community job projects are promoted to provide temporary jobs to vulnerable employment groups such as low-income earners, basic livelihood security recipients, and long-term unemployed individuals facing economic difficulties, aiming to ensure minimum livelihood stability.
The second half projects will run until October 12, with working hours set according to age: up to 3 hours per day for those aged 65 and over, and up to 6 hours per day for those under 65.
This second half project will focus on environmental maintenance and natural environment creation in frontline administrative districts, deploying about 200 workers across a total of approximately 76 workplaces reflecting local characteristics.
In particular, greenway creation and maintenance projects such as railway forests and urban forests will be carried out to create a pleasant environment within citizens' living areas, along with environmental maintenance of major beaches like Yeongildae Beach, which attracts hundreds of thousands of summer vacationers annually, as well as representative Pohang tourist sites such as Yeonorangseonyeo Theme Park and the Skywalk.
Considering that most workers are elderly, the project will focus on preventing safety accidents by checking workers' health status before work each day, ensuring the wearing of safety protective gear suitable for working conditions, and providing education on precautions during work.
Additionally, to prepare for heatstroke prevention during the summer heat and various safety accidents, quarterly safety education and on-site patrol training will be conducted, prioritizing safety accident prevention throughout the project.
