According to Gyeonggi Province on the 11th, about 20 boxes of cup noodles were placed at the entrance of the basement level 1 of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government building in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon City that morning. An anonymous donor who identified themselves as a 'Suwon Gwanggyo resident' wrote in a letter attached to the noodle boxes, "I am a patient with a rare incurable disease and have received help from 119 before. I also witnessed the firefighters’ desperate efforts during fires that occurred years ago in Gwanggyosan and Gangwon Province," adding, "I saw the news about the complaint yesterday and felt heartbroken; I only feel sorry for the firefighters."
They continued, "Please do not be hurt by some extreme actions, and remember that many citizens support the firefighters and are waiting for their help," adding, "The 119 Safety Center is not a nuisance facility but an essential facility we need."
Earlier, on the 17th of last month, it was reported that some residents of nearby apartments called the Gwanggyo Iui 119 Safety Center to file complaints about the sirens.
They claimed to be suffering damages due to the center and announced plans to hold a 'nuisance facility protest,' which recently sparked controversy after being reported by some media outlets.
The Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters held a related meeting with the complainants on the 28th of last month to discuss the matter, which was revealed later.
The Iui 119 Safety Center, which opened on May 25, is responsible for Iui-dong and Hadong in Yeongtong-gu, as well as Yeonmu-dong, Sanggwanggyo-dong, and Haggwanggyo-dong in Jangan-gu.
The jurisdictional area is intersected by the Yeongdong Expressway, Yongin-Seoul Expressway, and Shinbundang Line, making it a place with many traffic accidents as well as safety incidents related to Gwanggyosan Mountain and reservoirs scattered throughout.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon shared on his social media service (SNS) that day, "There were stacks of noodle boxes at the entrance of the provincial government building on my way to work," and added, "There was a recent article about some Gwanggyo residents demanding noise regulation for the fire station. This was a gift and message to support the firefighters who might have felt discouraged after reading the article."
