Seongbuk-gu Dolbom SOS Center Support for Heatwave-Vulnerable Groups
Support such as lunchbox delivery and insect screen installation for vulnerable groups in summer
Middle-aged, disabled, and elderly residents urgently needing care can consult at the local community center
Case 1.
Mr. A, in his 80s, had poor eyesight making it difficult to move around and had reduced chewing ability. He suffered from depression and was reluctant to have strangers visit his home, but after regular visits and persuasion by the community center care manager and visiting nurse, he now receives meal delivery and temporary home care services. By receiving nutritious porridge meal deliveries and going out regularly with a temporary home care worker, his depression has greatly improved.
Case 2.
Mr. B, in his 60s, lived in a house with severe odor from garbage and was unable to clean the house himself due to a spinal fracture. The community center arranged for Mr. B to stay in temporary housing and provided housing convenience services (cleaning and disinfection). Due to the risk of isolation and malnutrition, continuous management was deemed necessary, and temporary home care and various services are being provided to help him maintain a normal daily life.
Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) provides short-term care services through the ‘Care SOS Center’ for residents who have difficulty moving alone or performing independent daily activities.
The five major care services provided by the Care SOS Center are ▲Temporary home care (visiting the client’s home for assistance and nursing) ▲Short-term facility stay (up to 14 days) ▲Accompaniment support (support for essential outings) ▲Housing convenience (simple home repairs, cleaning, and disinfection) ▲Meal delivery (lunchbox delivery to maintain basic dietary needs), and since August 2020, more than 5,724 services have been provided in total.
The main users are middle-aged, disabled, and elderly residents who do not use other public care systems. Basic livelihood security recipients, low-income groups, and those with a median income of 100% or less (approximately 2.07 million KRW for a single-person household) can use the services free of charge within the annual usage limit.
