Xi Jinping Meets with Russian Federation Council Chairman, Close Ally of Putin
Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council (Upper House) of Russia, on the 10th, according to state-run China Central Television (CCTV). Matviyenko is known as a close associate of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On the same day, President Xi met with Matviyenko, who led the Russian parliamentary delegation visiting Beijing, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Matviyenko and her delegation visited China from the 9th to the 12th at the invitation of Zhao Leji, the third-ranking official of the Chinese Communist Party and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC). During this visit, she is expected to hold talks with Chairman Zhao and attend the 8th meeting of the China NPC-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
