A man in his 30s who habitually assaulted his cohabiting girlfriend on suspicion that she was meeting her ex-boyfriend was sentenced to prison.
The Chuncheon District Court Criminal Division 2 (Presiding Judge Lee Young-jin) sentenced A (36), who was charged with habitual special injury, to 1 year and 10 months in prison on the 8th.
In October of last year, a man in his 30s in Chuncheon was sentenced to prison for assaulting his cohabiting partner, suspecting her of having a relationship with his ex-girlfriend.

In October of last year, A broke the finger of his cohabiting girlfriend B (41) at their home in Chuncheon City by twisting it while demanding that she delete photos of her ex-boyfriend.
He also repeatedly punched B, poured bottled water on her face, hit her head with a showerhead while she was in the bathroom wiping off water, and threatened her to "tell the truth," even slashing her arm with a weapon.
A was tried on charges of habitually assaulting B seven times over four months, causing injury. It was revealed that A committed these crimes out of suspicion that B was contacting or meeting her ex-boyfriend again.
The court stated, "Considering the circumstances, content, frequency, and extent of the damage, the nature and seriousness of the crime are very grave," and added, "The victim is believed to have suffered significant physical and mental pain due to this crime and is expected to suffer aftereffects for a considerable period."
