October National Sports Festival and Disabled Sports Festival Opening and Closing Ceremonies to Reflect Jeonnam's 'Vision and Strength'
Governor Kim Young-rok emphasizes "A stage of harmony and emotion showcasing everything about Jeonnam"
The opening and closing ceremonies of the National Sports Festival and the National Para Games, to be held in Jeonnam this October, will be grandly conducted under the concept of ‘National Sports Festival & National Arts Festival (Jeonguk Chejeon & Jeonguk Yejun)’, featuring the sounds and dances of Jeonnam, with performers and audiences completing the experience together.
Jeonnam Province announced on the 6th that it will host the 104th National Sports Festival and the 43rd National Para Games with the vision and strength of the Jeonnam region, aiming to make the events as grand as the Olympics.
Governor Kim Young-rok emphasized a stage of harmony and emotion that showcases everything about Jeonnam.
On this day, a ‘Production Plan Briefing for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies’ of the 104th National Sports Festival and the 43rd National Para Games was held.
The briefing was attended by Governor Kim Young-rok, Song Jin-ho, Chairman of the Jeonnam Sports Council, Park Jung-hyun, Executive Vice Chairman of the Jeonnam Para Sports Council, So Young-ho, Vice Mayor of Mokpo City, and heads of provincial departments.
Park Myung-sung, the general director in charge of the production of the opening and closing ceremonies, reported on the composition, themes, and production methods of the ceremonies for both the National Sports Festival and the National Para Games.
They plan to emphasize Jeonnam’s uniqueness through a water performance using large and small percussion instruments symbolizing Jeonnam’s nature, industry, and future blueprint.
Under the main theme ‘Into the Resonance of Life,’ the plan is to express the ceremonies in the form of musicals and traditional Korean outdoor plays (Madangnori), utilizing a cutting-edge stage system integrated with media.
The opening ceremony of the National Sports Festival will feature a cultural performance under the theme ‘Soar, the Earth’s Resonance of Jeonnam.’
Act 1, ‘Awaken, Ancient Jeonnam,’ will express the resonance of Jeonnam’s sounds filled with the energy of the sea; Act 2, ‘Proclaim, the New Era of Jeonnam!’ will depict the forest of life and people as the earth’s resonance; Act 3, ‘Advance, the Resonance of Jeonnam,’ will portray Jeonnam as the center of future industries, emitting a grand resonance to the world.
The closing ceremony of the National Sports Festival will present a cultural performance themed ‘Wooroorim Forest Becoming One.’ It will convey how the sweat and time devoted by athletes during the festival become another resonance, inspiring hope for a greater tomorrow.
The opening ceremony of the 43rd National Para Games will feature a cultural performance under the theme ‘Spread High, the Sound Resonance of Jeonnam.’
The sounds of Jeonnam and those produced by our bodies come together to overcome discrimination and prejudice, creating a stage of harmony, and all sounds created through harmony will be visually expressed.
The closing ceremony of the National Para Games will present a cultural performance themed ‘Heart, Resonance, Sharing Emotion.’ It will depict the moving scene where people with and without disabilities overcome all obstacles to become one, expressing Jeonnam’s realization of new values beyond harmony.
