Positive Outlook for Gyeongbuk Agricultural Food Exports, Achieving $461.4 Million in the First Half... 9.9% Increase Compared to Last Year
As of the first half of this year, the export value of agricultural and food products from Gyeongsangbuk-do reached 461.4 million USD, showing a 9.9% increase compared to 419.8 million USD in the same period last year.
By product category, fresh agricultural products such as chamoe (Korean melon), peaches, and grapes showed significant growth. Chamoe exports increased by 105.3% to 1.23 million USD, peaches saw a 23.2% increase to 80,000 USD with their first export in June, and grapes exports rose by 15.2% to 7.6 million USD.

Red snow crab meat exports increased by 40.1% to 17.77 million USD, alcoholic beverages rose by 33.4% to 13.38 million USD, ginseng products grew by 5.0% to 4.69 million USD, and tuna exports achieved 23.91 million USD, up 4.8%.
By country, exports to Japan increased by 48.4%, China by 20.7%, the United Arab Emirates by 7.4%, and Vietnam by 6.5%.
These achievements are analyzed to be the result of Gyeongbuk Province’s “Great Transformation of the Agricultural and Food Processing Industry,” which has gained recognition for excellent quality and taste in overseas markets despite the rapidly changing international trade environment and consumer conditions following COVID-19.
Additionally, active administrative support such as operating permanent overseas sales outlets in Vietnam, Canada, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Singapore, developing new export products, and supporting entry into new overseas markets including Europe, North America, and the Middle East appears to have played a major role.
