Will the 14-Year-Stalled 'Yongin Yeoksam District Urban Development Project' Be Normalized?
The 'Yongin Yeoksam District Urban Development Project,' which had been stalled for 14 years due to internal issues within the association, has taken its first step toward normalization.
On the 6th, Yongin City announced that on the 30th of last month, the 'Yongin Yeoksam District Urban Development Project Association' decided to hold an extraordinary general meeting to form a new executive team and established an election management committee to elect the association president and executives.
Currently, the association is operating under a court-appointed acting president. A new president and executives will be elected at the upcoming extraordinary general meeting.
The association announced the registration for candidates for the election management committee of the extraordinary general meeting on May 31st. After detailed verification of about ten applicants, five election management committee members were formed on the 30th of last month, laying the foundation for the association's normalization.
The appointed election management committee will establish the criteria for electing association executives, including voting rights, written resolutions, and proxies. They will also provide opinions on the overall general meeting, including the schedule, venue, and funding plans for the extraordinary general meeting.
The Yeoksam District Urban Development Project completed administrative procedures such as designation as an urban development zone in 2009, development plan establishment, implementation plan approval, and land readjustment plan approval, but the project was delayed due to internal conflicts within the association and legal disputes.
The acting president of the association received permission for extraordinary business activities from the court in December last year following requests from association members to hold an extraordinary general meeting.
Since taking office, Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin has emphasized the importance of the Yeoksam District Urban Development Project, which significantly affects Yongin's future urban planning, including the access roads of Samga 2 District, and has expressed a strong will to normalize the project.
