Operation of the '2030 Busan World Expo Promotion Center' ... Busan City Linked with Saemaeul Undong Global Cooperation Ministers' Meeting
Operation at BEXCO Convention Hall on May 5-6... Promoting Busan World Expo to Event Attendees
Explaining Main and Subthemes, Core Values, Differentiators, and Initiatives through Large LED Screens and Sculptures
Busan City will operate a promotional pavilion for the 2030 Busan World Expo at BEXCO Convention Hall from the 5th to the 6th, in conjunction with the 2023 Saemaul Undong Global Cooperation Ministers' Meeting.
The 2023 Saemaul Undong Global Cooperation Ministers' Meeting is a large-scale international event held for the first time among minister-level officials of member countries of the Saemaul Undong Global League (SGL), taking place at BEXCO for three days from the 5th to the 7th.
The Saemaul Undong Global League was founded in October 2016 with the purpose of sharing the experiences of South Korea's Saemaul Undong and local cases, strengthening mutual cooperation, and conducting education and pilot village projects for countries wishing to learn about Saemaul Undong, thereby creating a prosperous global community. Forty-six countries, including the chair country South Korea, are members.
This promotional pavilion was prepared to actively promote the 2030 Busan World Expo, which South Korea’s Busan is bidding to host, to the many ministers and officials from member countries of the International Exhibitions Bureau attending the 2023 Saemaul Undong Global Cooperation Ministers' Meeting, as well as to visitors.
The pavilion will feature ▲a large LED screen and ▲promotional sculptures. Through these, the city plans to provide detailed explanations about the candidate site for the 2030 Busan World Expo, its main and sub-themes, the values it pursues, as well as the unique characteristics of Busan, South Korea, and the Busan Initiative.
The large LED screen will display SKT’s UAM (Urban Air Mobility) video filmed by drone over the candidate site for the 2030 Busan World Expo. This approximately 8-minute video allows viewers to see the future vision of Busan at the candidate site, the overall view of Bukhang (North Port), and the layout of the 2030 Busan World Expo venue.
The promotional sculptures visually express the meaning and value of the Busan Initiative as a global platform, encouraging joint consideration of solutions to common human challenges such as climate change and polarization, and exploring these solutions at the 2030 Busan World Expo.
Additionally, the pavilion introduces the main theme of the 2030 Busan World Expo, “The Great Transformation of the World, Sailing Toward a Better Future,” along with three sub-themes: “Nature and Sustainable Life,” “Technology for Humanity,” and “A Place of Care and Sharing.” It also highlights six special elements unique to Busan’s great transformation, emphasizing the values and distinctiveness of the 2030 Busan World Expo and Busan, South Korea.
The six special elements unique to Busan are ▲“An Expo for the Whole World” overcoming spatial and temporal barriers through metaverse technology, ▲“A Carbon Neutral Expo” actively utilizing eco-friendly technologies and green energy, ▲“An Inclusive Expo” expanding participation opportunities for developing countries, ▲“A New Technology Expo” incorporating South Korea’s advanced information technology (IT), ▲“A Cultural Expo” where visitors can experience Korean culture such as K-POP, and ▲“A Recording Expo” featuring a data archive using the Bukhang silo.
In particular, immediately after the opening ceremony, key figures attending the ministers' meeting will tour the 2030 Busan World Expo promotional pavilion, where “Little Diplomat” Campbell Asia, who played a significant role in the recent on-site inspection and competitive presentation at the International Exhibitions Bureau, will personally introduce the pavilion, adding special meaning.
