Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) celebrated the first anniversary of the 8th elected administration by transforming the staff regular assembly from a rigid and formal format into a communication and festival event planned directly by young employees, receiving great response.
Among the approximately 2,000 public officials in Songpa-gu, 1,130 belong to the MZ generation, accounting for more than half. Accordingly, the regular assembly held on the 3rd at the district office auditorium was specially filled with diverse and new attempts targeting MZ generation public officials.
Starting with male and female public officials representing the MZ generation co-hosting the event together for the first time since the district office’s establishment, the ‘Hahaha Band,’ composed of five employees, delivered a high-quality popular music performance, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a concert hall and receiving enthusiastic cheers.
In particular, during the ‘Bitter Talk (Talk) Group Talk (Talk)’ session held on stage with about 500 employees attending, candid and witty questions from the staff drew attention.
Using pre-written question sheets, employees asked Mayor Seo questions such as “What are the unique characteristics of Songpa-gu employees?”, “It would be great if you could create more opportunities to communicate with public officials below grade 8,” “Please protect employees from chronic and malicious complainants,” “What was your happiest moment in the past year?”, and “I’m curious about your secret to maintaining your rich and glossy hair.”
Mayor Seo Gang-seok recalled, “The past year was a precious time to get to know each other,” and said, “I am grateful to the Songpa-gu public officials who have run tirelessly with me, armed with the core values of ‘creativity, innovation, and fairness’ for the vision of Songpa, a premium city that serves residents as owners.”

He continued, “Thanks to these efforts, 85% of residents recently responded that they are satisfied with Songpa-gu Office’s administration in a resident survey. Finally, Mayor Seo, as a published poet, read his own poems ‘Youth’ and ‘Employee’ to encourage the young public officials, and urged, “The MZ generation are talents who grew up in a first-class country with advanced awareness. Please become people who challenge the environment created by the older generation and see opportunities even in crises.”
