Drone-Only Regulatory Special Zone for Fostering the Drone Industry

On the 4th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has been selected as a 'Drone Special Free Zone' designated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The Drone Special Free Zone is a drone-exclusive regulatory special zone established to foster the drone utilization service industry under the 'Act on the Promotion and Infrastructure of Drone Utilization.'

Within the Drone Special Free Zone, regulations such as special airworthiness certification and safety certification that verify the safety of drone bodies in advance, and special flight approvals applied to beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drone flights, will be significantly relaxed.

The selected zones this time include three areas: the Seomjingang area in Gurye-eup (Gurye-eup, Muncheok-myeon) and the Jirisan area (Toji-myeon).

The county will collaborate with private companies to promote drone demonstration projects for safety management of inland waters in Seomjingang and for the prevention of forest fires and rescues in Jirisan.

Gurye-gun plans to provide locations necessary for drone demonstrations and offer administrative support.

County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, "With the designation of the Drone Special Free Zone this time, we will accelerate projects such as safety monitoring of Seomjingang and Jirisan through the drone LRS (Land, River, Sky) demonstration project."
