On the 3rd, the Korea Meteorological Administration announced that a low-pressure system developing along a stationary front will approach, bringing rain to the Jeonnam region and Jeju from dawn, to the Jeonbuk region from morning, and to the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, southern Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam region from afternoon. The rain will expand nationwide by late afternoon and mostly stop by the morning of the 5th.
From the 4th until the morning of the 5th, strong rain will fall at a rate of 30 to 60 mm per hour. In some areas at dawn on the 5th, rainfall may exceed 70 mm per hour, so caution is needed for potential rain damage.
The time periods with concentrated rainfall by region are as follows: for the Jeolla region, daytime on the 4th and dawn on the 5th; for the central region (excluding the eastern coast of Gangwon) and northern inland Gyeongbuk, from night on the 4th to dawn on the 5th; and for the southern coast of Gyeongnam and Jeju, from dawn to morning on the 5th.
Expected rainfall amounts from the 4th to the 5th are 50 to 100 mm for the Seoul metropolitan area, inland Gangwon, Gangwon mountains, Chungcheong, northern inland Gyeongbuk, Honam, southern coast of Gyeongnam, Jeju, the five western islands, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo; and 20 to 60 mm for the eastern coast of Gangwon, northern eastern coast of Gyeongbuk, southern Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam (excluding the southern coast).
The Seoul metropolitan area, Chungnam, Honam, Jeju, and the five western islands may receive up to 150 mm or more, and inland Gangwon and Chungbuk may receive up to 120 mm or more.
With the rain on the 4th, the heatwave warnings currently in effect across most regions nationwide will be lifted by the evening of that day. Although the heat will ease somewhat, tropical nights will appear in parts of the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong, and Jeonbuk.
The lowest temperatures on the morning of the 4th are expected to be between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, and the highest daytime temperatures between 24 and 31 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures in major areas are expected as follows: Seoul 25?29°C, Incheon 24?28°C, Daejeon 24?28°C, Gwangju 24?27°C, Daegu 23?30°C, Ulsan 22?27°C, and Busan 23?26°C.
