Ministry of SMEs and Startups Achieves S Grade in Youth Policy Comprehensive Evaluation, Highest Among All Ministries
13 Projects Awarded Top 'S' Grade
Twice the Average S Grade Rate (22%) Across All Ministries
Outstanding Projects Including 'Cheongnyeon Changup Sagwanhakgyo'
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 3rd that "in the 2023 comprehensive evaluation of youth policies conducted by the Youth Policy Coordination Committee targeting 32 central ministries and 17 metropolitan cities and provinces, more than half of the tasks, 13 in total, received an S grade, achieving excellent results." This evaluation reviewed and assessed the 2022 implementation performance of 376 tasks across five major areas (employment, housing, education, welfare & culture, participation & rights) established by central ministries to develop cross-ministerial youth policy improvement measures.
In this evaluation, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups received the highest S grade in 13 out of 25 tasks, the most among all ministries. The average rate of tasks receiving an S grade was 22%.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups was the first among ministries to newly introduce the ‘Youth Advisor’ position. It has operated youth policy-related committees such as the ‘2030 Advisory Group’ and the ‘2030 SME Group’ to reflect young people's opinions on major policies. Looking at individual tasks, the 'Youth Startup Academy' was selected as a representative excellent task in the employment sector. ▲ The ‘Youth-Exclusive Startup Fund,’ which provides loans up to 100 million KRW at a fixed interest rate of 2% per annum and supports education to help youth commercialize their startups, ▲ and the ‘Creative Economy Innovation Center,’ which offers expert mentoring and startup counseling for local youth, were also selected as excellent tasks.

Minister Lee Young of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups said, “I believe this excellent comprehensive evaluation of youth policies by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups is the result of active communication and collaboration between the ministry and the youth, who are the future generation.” He added, “We will continue to listen carefully to the opinions of our youth so that various views they desire are reflected in youth policies and properly implemented.”
