The police have received 25 cases related to unregistered births and are currently investigating 15 of them.
The National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency announced that as of 10 a.m. on the 30th, they have received 25 investigation requests regarding unregistered infants who have birth records but whose births were not officially registered, and are currently investigating 15 cases.
The Busan Nambu Police Station is investigating 4 cases, while the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency and Gyeonggi Hwaseong Dongtan Police Station are each investigating 2 cases. The Gyeongnam Police Agency, Gyeonggi Anseong Police Station, Siheung Police Station, Incheon Gyeyang Police Station, Jeonbuk Jeonju Deokjin Police Station, Chungnam Cheongyang Police Station, and Chungbuk Chungju Police Station are each investigating 1 case.
The police have confirmed the whereabouts of 13 unregistered children out of the 25 cases requested for investigation by local governments and others, while 7 children remain missing. It has been confirmed that 5 children are already deceased.
Six cases where the children’s whereabouts were confirmed and two cases of death were closed with a finding of 'no charges.'
