Mayor Lee Jae-jun: "I Will Create a City for Everyone, One Suwon"

View original imageLee Jae-jun, the mayor of Suwon, on the occasion of his first anniversary in office, stated, "We will create 'a city for all, one Suwon' where citizens' dreams come true, and everyone grows together with mutual consideration."
At the first anniversary ceremony held on the 30th at the Suwon Convention Center, Mayor Lee said, "Under the vision of 'Renewing Suwon, Shining Citizens' for the 8th elected term, we have set 'a city for all, one Suwon' as our policy philosophy and direction," emphasizing, "We will build a city where the dreams of all citizens?including children, adolescents, youth, middle-aged, seniors, and people with disabilities?are realized, and no one is left behind."
He cited the achievements of the past year as ▲signing investment agreements with three advanced companies including SD Biosensor ▲the 'Suwon Saebit Enterprise Fund' to be operated with a scale of 100 billion KRW ▲the integrated care service 'Suwon Saebit Care' ▲the innovative civil service office 'Saebit Civil Service Office' ▲and the launch of the Suwon citizen participation platform 'Saebit Toktok.'
Additionally, as solutions to revitalize Suwon's economy and overcome the financial crisis, he proposed readjusting the regulations on the overpopulation control zone under the Capital Region Readjustment Planning Act, constructing Gyeonggi International Airport, and securing finances and authority as a special city.
Mayor Lee stated, "The construction of Gyeonggi International Airport is a dream and hope that will dramatically change Suwon's future," and promised, "I will strive to ensure that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's preliminary feasibility study begins promptly."
He also officially proposed the formation of the 'Gyeonggi International Airport Public Deliberation Committee,' a citizen communication and consensus body for the construction of Gyeonggi International Airport, to Hwaseong City and its citizens.
On the morning of the same day, Mayor Lee began his first anniversary with a traffic safety volunteer activity at Hyowon High School intersection together with the Suwon Southern Police Station Model Drivers Association, showing his commitment to ensuring citizens' safety.

The ceremony was designed as a time for communication and harmony with citizens. It began with a fusion gugak (traditional Korean music) performance by the traditional culture and arts label 'Cheongryu,' followed by Mayor Lee's commemorative speech, the awarding of the Proud Suwon Citizen Award for the 8th elected term, a dialogue with citizens, congratulatory performances by the Gyeonggi Boys and Girls Choir and the Gyeonggi Cheerleading Squad, and concluded with Mayor Lee and about 800 citizens singing "Beautiful World" together.
