The Korea Tourism Organization and HD Hyundai Oilbank signed a business agreement on the 28th at the HD Hyundai Oilbank headquarters to jointly work on the establishment and promotion of dump stations.
Both organizations will collaborate on various initiatives to promote the proper camping culture through increased use of dump stations, including ▲a 'Fuel + Dump Station Linked Promotion' targeting HD Hyundai Oilbank members ▲providing information and promotion through the Korea Tourism Organization’s nationwide registered camping site information portal 'Go Camping.'
Previously, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization have been promoting a project to support the installation of dump stations at registered camping sites nationwide since last year. This year, to broaden the choices for campers and enhance convenience, the distribution of related facilities is being expanded beyond camping sites to other locations.
This project was initiated in response to the rapid increase in camping vehicles following the legalization of campervan modifications for regular vehicles in 2020, amid concerns over environmental issues caused by unauthorized discharge of campervan wastewater due to insufficient infrastructure and awareness.
In May, the Korea Tourism Organization selected HD Hyundai Oilbank as the final business operator through a public contest for the 'Private Sector Support Project for Campervan-related Infrastructure,' and will install dump stations at about 10 gas stations in areas with high campervan traffic.
