Ordered ramen and almost fainted... Taiwan's 'Godzilla Ramen' with crocodile leg inside
Popular Dish Priced Around 60,000 Won Per Bowl
"Tried to Put in the Head but Only Put in the Leg"
A somewhat shocking-looking ramen is gaining huge popularity in Taiwan. It is called 'Godzilla Ramen,' featuring a crocodile leg as a topping in the noodle bowl.
On the 28th (local time), the UK's Daily Mail reported that "a restaurant in Taiwan has introduced a 'daring dish that few would dare to try,' sparking mixed reactions among netizens." On the same day, Indian media NDTV also reported, "This unique and strange dish uses bizarre ingredients and is gaining popularity locally."
The price of one bowl of 'Godzilla Ramen' is about 63,000 KRW. According to photos released by the restaurant, the ramen includes various ingredients such as corn, quail eggs, shrimp, and meat, alongside a crocodile leg placed on top. The restaurant explained that the standout feature is the protruding crocodile leg, which appears to be crawling out of the bowl filled with noodles and broth.
A representative of the restaurant said in an interview with local media, "Since we have a menu made with a special broth, we thought of making ramen using crocodile meat," adding, "We came up with 'Godzilla Ramen' with the desire to create a creative and special menu."
They continued, "At first, we considered including the crocodile head as well, but decided to use only the leg," and added, "To eliminate the fishy taste of crocodile meat, we used special seasonings such as onion, ginger, and garlic."
Godzilla Ramen initially had no customers after its launch. However, as related content spread on social media with comments like "a creative attempt" and "a dish you must try when traveling," it has gained popularity mainly among YouTubers and influencers.
However, some netizens expressed negative reactions, saying, "It doesn't look good visually," "Is there really a reason to eat crocodile like that?" and "A result of excessive creativity."
