Korea-Kuwait Aviation Talks Held... Agreement on Traffic Rights Increase and More
"Promotion of Direct Flight Route Establishment"
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 29th that it held an aviation meeting with the Kuwait Civil Aviation Authority in Seoul and agreed to increase air transport rights between the two countries and allow codeshare agreements between airlines.
Kuwait is a country with active infrastructure cooperation, with Korean companies participating in projects such as the operation of Kuwait International Airport and the construction of the Jaber Causeway sea bridge. Through this aviation meeting, cooperation between the two countries was expanded to the field of air transportation.
At this aviation meeting, the air transport rights between the two countries were increased from the existing twice weekly round trips to five times weekly, allowing an additional two weekly flights on the Busan-Kuwait route. As a result, it became easier for airlines to schedule flights, creating an environment where direct flights, suspended since 1986, can be resumed.
Additionally, codeshare agreements between airlines on the Korea-Kuwait route will be permitted, which is expected to strengthen cooperation between airlines in seat sales and actual operations.
Furthermore, it was agreed that two or more national carriers can operate flights, and new regulations to strengthen safety and security will be added to the air agreement.
