Nation's First Unmanned and Wireless Rescue Boards Deployed at Ulsan Beach
Ulsan Fire Department Operates Water Rescue Boards in Jinha and Ilsan
Operates for 30-40 Minutes, Wireless Maximum Transmission Distance 800m
A wireless unmanned rescue board for lifesaving will be deployed for the first time nationwide at beaches in the Ulsan area.
The Ulsan Fire Headquarters (Chief Lee Jae-soon) announced on the 29th that unmanned rescue boards will be placed at two major beaches, Jinha and Ilsan, starting July 1st to prepare for drowning accidents during the summer beach season.
This unmanned rescue board is simple to operate and compact in size but has enough buoyancy to rescue up to two adult men. It can also respond to accidents occurring in shallow coastal areas where conventional rescue boats have difficulty entering.
The dimensions are 956 mm x 780 mm x 255 mm, shaped like a large U-shaped tube, weighing 13.7 kg, with a maximum speed of 15 km/h. It operates for 30 to 40 minutes on a full charge, and the maximum wireless transmission range is 800 meters. The board body functions identically whether flipped over by waves or not, and it is equipped with an automatic power system that turns on the moment it is thrown into the water.
Last year, 880,000 visitors (580,000 at Jinha, 300,000 at Ilsan) came to major beaches in Ulsan, and there were nine drowning accidents (nine people rescued) at the beaches.
