World-renowned conductor Myung-Whun Chung will serve as the inaugural artistic director overseeing the Busan Metropolitan City performance venues. On the 28th, Busan City announced the appointment of Mr. Chung as the first artistic director of the Busan Metropolitan City performance venues. His term begins on the 1st of next month.
Mr. Chung will oversee the opening performances of the Busan International Art Center and the Busan Opera House, which will open in the first half of 2025 and the second half of 2026, respectively, as well as the seasonal performance programs and music festivals. He will also establish a systematic system to enhance the status of the Busan Metropolitan City performance venues, including training professional artists.

On the 3rd, Mr. Chung demonstrated his undiminished skills by conducting the KBS Symphony Orchestra at the "Preview of the Busan International Art Center, Classic Park Concert" held at Hayaria Lawn Square in Busan Citizens Park. The Busan City officials stated, "We expect him to contribute to popularizing classical music by frequently presenting high-quality outdoor performances."
