Safety Inspections on Steep Slopes from the 27th to 28th... Preparing for Typhoons and Heavy Rainfall
Public-Private On-Site Inspection Team Formed, Thoroughly Checking Risk Factors at 14 Steep Slope Locations
Situation Management Team to Operate Until October, Fully Committed to Minimizing Human and Property Damage
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) conducted safety inspections on steep slopes to prepare for natural disasters during the summer season.
This summer, the development of El Ni?o is expected to cause frequent typhoons and heavy rainfall. In particular, steep slopes vulnerable during the rainy season require caution as they may experience soil erosion, rockfalls, or collapse accidents.
Accordingly, the district carried out safety inspections to prevent disasters on steep slopes. Over two days, from the 27th to the 28th, an on-site inspection team composed of the responsible departments and private experts thoroughly examined 14 steep slope locations.
In Gwangjin-gu, there are 5 mountainous slopes, 7 road slopes, and 2 residential slopes classified as steep slopes.
The main inspection items included checking for cracks or subsidence on soil surfaces, the condition of drainage facilities, and the risk of rockfall occurrence. After the inspection, any deficiencies were immediately corrected on-site; if immediate action was not possible, follow-up measures such as facility repairs, reinforcements, and detailed safety diagnoses were implemented to thoroughly prevent accidents.
Additionally, a situation management team will operate until October. During weather warnings, 24-hour emergency duty will be conducted, maintaining a real-time emergency communication system with cooperating agencies such as Seoul City and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to respond swiftly to accidents on steep slopes.
