Professor Choi Young-hyun's Team at Dong-Eui University Selected for Basic Research Laboratory Support Project
Professor Choi Young-hyun and Professor Hong Soo-hyun from the Department of Korean Medicine at Dong-Eui University have been selected for the new project of the ‘2023 Basic Research Laboratory Support Program’ funded by the Ministry of Science and ICT, receiving research funding of 1.35 billion KRW over the next three years.
As the principal investigator, Professor Choi Young-hyun, along with Professor Hong Soo-hyun from the Department of Korean Medicine and Professor Kim Ki-young from the Department of Marine Life Sciences at Jeju National University, was selected for the project titled ‘Basic Research Laboratory on Korean Medicine Control of Liver-Muscle and Skeletal System Diseases Mediated by Ultrafine Plastics.’
The research aims to identify the harmful mechanisms of ultrafine plastics, an environmental hazardous factor, on the liver, muscles, and bones, and to discover candidate drugs that can block these effects.

The Basic Research Laboratory support program systematically supports various research topics that deepen existing studies. It is organized by the National Research Foundation of Korea and the Ministry of Science and ICT, and this year, a total of 114 new projects were selected.
