Mayor Son Byung-bok said, “If clean hydrogen is produced cheaply and in large quantities using nuclear power plants, it will not only reduce manufacturing costs for industries that require clean hydrogen but also protect and foster key industries in the carbon-neutral era through additional effects such as carbon tax reductions, thereby strengthening national competitiveness.” He strongly requested Minister Won Hee-ryong to improve the system by revising the Enforcement Decree of the Electricity Business Act to allow nuclear power-generated electricity to be supplied to hydrogen production companies within the Uljin national industrial complex. Minister Won responded that he would actively consider this at the government-wide level.
