Gyeonggi-do Conducts Comprehensive Energy Usage Survey of 130 Public Buildings
Gyeonggi Province will investigate the energy usage status of 130 public buildings within the province by the end of this year and establish a greenhouse gas reduction plan for the building sector.
On the 27th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Buildings and Expanding Green Buildings" with the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology.
Following the signing of the agreement, the two organizations will mutually cooperate in various areas including ▲discovering business models to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 ▲developing performance improvement measures for public buildings ▲analyzing the economic feasibility of zero energy buildings ▲supporting specialized education to strengthen regional capabilities.
In particular, to lead the transition to zero energy starting with public buildings, Gyeonggi Province will investigate and analyze the energy usage status of 130 public buildings it owns, including the new Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office building.
Additionally, together with the Zero Energy Building Support Center of the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, they will analyze construction costs for energy-related items of zero energy buildings and present estimated construction costs by grade to support appropriate project budgeting from the planning stage. They also plan to regularize specialized education and diversify experiential events for city and county officials and local architects.
Green buildings refer to buildings that have high energy use efficiency, a high ratio of new and renewable energy usage, and minimize greenhouse gas emissions.
Zero energy buildings are green buildings graded according to the building's own energy self-sufficiency rate.
