'US Business Trip' Shin Sang-jin, Seongnam Mayor, Attends 6.25 Korean War Memorial Ceremony

The ceremony, hosted by the LA Consulate General, was attended by Mayor Shin Sang-jin, LA Consul General Kim Young-wan, diplomats from UN allied countries, veterans, and various veterans' organizations.
The Korean War Veterans Memorial, located in Hillcrest Park, bears the names of all 36,591 American soldiers who died in the Korean War. Fundraising began in 2010, and with the combined efforts of the South Korean government (Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs), Korean-American communities, and over 400 individuals and organizations, the memorial was established in 2021.
In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Shin Sang-jin expressed gratitude, stating, "We pay respect to each hero's noble courage and sacrifice inscribed on this memorial, and we must never forget that the freedom and prosperity we enjoy were made possible by the blood, sweat, sacrifice, and dedication of the veterans."
In the afternoon, Mayor Shin attended the June 25 commemoration ceremony hosted by the Democratic Peaceful Unification Advisory Council Orange-San Diego Chapter.
His attendance at the ceremony took place during his visit to promote exchange and cooperation with the city of Fullerton.

Seongnam City plans to strengthen economic and cultural cooperation between the two regions through not only the sister city agreement signing ceremony but also the opening of the Seongnam Business Center and the 70th Anniversary Peace Concert commemorating the Korea-US alliance.
