"It took less than 30 minutes to get the highball recipe. I think the frequency of merchandise planners (MDs) using ChatGPT will increase in the future."

GS25 released the Asukup Lemon Sparkle Highball using 'Asukup' from AI startup Upstage, and it has received positive responses from consumers. An MD explained, "Customers seem curious and fascinated about what the AI-recommended highball tastes like," adding, "It ranks within the top 5 in highball sales. By age group, purchases are mostly from people in their 20s and 30s, and by gender, women buy more."
The human intervention in the highball manufacturing process was minimized. The MD said, "When I asked, 'Tell me a delicious highball recipe,' it suggested a clean taste that harmonizes the fresh lemon scent with the oak aroma of whiskey. The alcohol content was also adjusted to 5.5 degrees as recommended. I inquired in detail about the amounts of whiskey and carbonated water, sweetness, and additional ingredients, and made it exactly according to the answers," emphasizing, "Normally, there is a taste adjustment process before product launch, but for symbolism, we did not alter it at all."
The product name, design, and price also followed AI recommendations. The MD said, "When I asked for highball name suggestions, it presented five options such as Sparkle Highball and Retro Highball," adding, "The design recommended an image combining mint green and yellow to give a refreshing and cool feeling. The price was suggested to be appropriate between 2,000 and 4,000 KRW for 500ml."
GS25 plans to launch another liquor product using AI. The MD said, "The planning intention of this product was to set the standard and textbook for AI-determined highballs," adding, "We want to try making traditional liquor in the same way. You can expect to see the product within this year."
