Dongwon Yukyoung Foundation Pledges 1 Billion Won Donation to Korea National University of Arts
Support Based on Chairman Kim's Commitment to Talent Development
To Be Used for Scholarships for Artists in Music and Film Schools
"Creative and unique cultural and artistic talents are the future of our country's soft power."
On the 26th, Kim Jae-cheol, Honorary Chairman of Dongwon Group and Chairman of the Dongwon Yukyoung Foundation, emphasized this after signing a donation agreement of 1 billion KRW for nurturing artistic talents at the Korea National University of Arts Seocho Campus, stating, "Behind the glory of Korean culture and arts today, there have been efforts by artists who quietly challenged themselves despite the fear of majoring in the arts."
This donation agreement by the Dongwon Yukyoung Foundation was made according to Chairman Kim's conviction that continuous talent development is necessary for the future of Korea's cultural and artistic fields, which have recently been recognized worldwide for their value in K-pop, K-content, and K-classical music. The donation will be used for scholarships for students of the Music and Film Schools at the Korea National University of Arts.
Chairman Kim said, "Since its opening in 1992, the Korea National University of Arts has grown into a world-class arts education institution that has produced numerous cultural and artistic talents," and added, "I hope it will once again play an important role as a hub for nurturing cultural and artistic talents in Korea."
Chairman Kim's passion for talent development is expanding from science and technology to the cultural and artistic fields. Previously, in 2020, he donated 50 billion KRW of his personal fortune to the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) to foster talent in the domestic artificial intelligence (AI) field.
Kim Dae-jin, President of the Korea National University of Arts, said, "We expect the meaningful donation from the Dongwon Yukyoung Foundation to greatly contribute to the creative activities of emerging artists and the enhancement of the status of K-content."
