Ulsan Tourism Grand Journey, 'U Road' Spanning 240km... 154 Youths Nationwide Deployed
Inauguration Ceremony on the 26th, 8 Days of Exploring and Experiencing Attractions
More than 150 young people and university students from across the country will participate in an eight-day grand journey program walking around famous spots in Ulsan.
Ulsan City announced that from June 26 to July 3, it will hold the “2023 Youth Ulsan Grand Journey U-Road” event under the slogan “Dream City Ulsan! Embracing Youth!” to promote the charm of “Tourism City Ulsan.” The program is sponsored by Ulsan City and hosted and organized by Ulsan MBC.
This year’s “Youth Ulsan Grand Journey” recruited nationwide youth aged 25 and under during April and May. Out of 285 applicants, 154 were finally selected and held a launch ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Ulsan City Hall Citizen Hall on the day, embarking on a 7-night, 8-day journey covering a total distance of 242 km.
The participants will explore major tourist attractions in Ulsan such as Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Village, Daewangam Park, and Bangudae Petroglyphs. They will also experience marine leisure sports and historical and cultural activities while walking about 104 km, directly experiencing Ulsan’s hidden gems. This year, the walking distance has been increased by about 40 km compared to last year.
Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, which limited various experiential opportunities for youth, this grand journey includes programs focused on experiencing Ulsan specialties, water leisure activities, Onggi pottery making, and climbing Ganjeoljae in the Yeongnam Alps, providing more opportunities to unleash youthful energy.
Participants who complete the journey will be appointed as members of the Ulsan Youth Promotion Group and receive a certificate of completion. Since its inception in 2011, the Youth Ulsan Grand Journey has been held 12 times, except for 2021 when the event was canceled due to COVID-19.
The vivid 7-night, 8-day journey will be produced as a documentary and broadcast on local TV stations and YouTube channels nationwide in August.
