Jeongeup-si Supports Screening Costs for Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Complications

The Jeonbuk Jeongeup City Public Health Center (Director Son Hee-kyung) announced on the 23rd that it will provide examination fee support to 200 individuals registered in the home health care project at the health center who have health risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia.

The examination fee support project, which will be conducted from July 3 to August 31, is designed to encourage patients with hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia?who have a high incidence of complications such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, kidney disease, and cataracts?to undergo complication screenings in advance to prevent severe diseases caused by these complications.

The examination items include ▲carotid artery ultrasound ▲microalbuminuria test ▲intraocular pressure, fundus, and refraction tests. Patients can visit their preferred medical institution with a referral issued by the health center to receive the tests.

There are 10 internal medicine clinics and 3 ophthalmology clinics available for examinations within the region.

Individuals who undergo chronic disease complication screenings will receive their results through individual consultations with doctors, and patients suspected of having complications can receive early treatment at medical institutions.

Additionally, they will receive preventive education and management linked with the home health care project.

A health center official stated, “Hypertension and diabetes are representative chronic diseases in Korea and are major causes of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and related mortality risks. We will continue to strive to promote the examination fee support project to improve the health of local residents.”
