Kakao Mobility Accompanies Vietnamese Economic Delegation... Exporting Technology and Service Capabilities
Kakao Mobility announced on the 21st that CEO Ryu Geung-seon will attend as a member of the economic delegation accompanying President Yoon Seok-yeol on his state visit to Vietnam. This marks Kakao Mobility's first participation in an economic delegation, where it plans to represent domestic IT companies and discuss various technological cooperation measures with local mobility-related companies in Vietnam.
Based on its successful strategy of having its domestic platform take the lead in competition with global platforms, Kakao Mobility plans to transfer service infrastructure technology and experience to local mobility platform companies and startups in Vietnam. Specifically, it aims to ▲support the establishment of a successful model for an independent mobility platform in Vietnam ▲build an ecosystem for collaboration on future innovative technologies such as autonomous driving in Vietnam ▲expand technological leadership through cooperation with local startups.
To this end, Kakao Mobility will hold meetings with leading Vietnamese companies such as ▲VIN Group, the number one conglomerate in Vietnam ▲Phenikaa Group, which provides public transportation IT services and develops autonomous driving technologies ▲FPT, the largest IT solutions company in Vietnam ▲Be Group, the second largest ride-hailing operator in Vietnam. Additionally, it will conduct roundtable discussions with promising Vietnamese IT startups such as logistics startup EcoTruck and travel concierge platform Tubudd to engage in various discussions aimed at fostering the local startup ecosystem.
Through these efforts, Kakao Mobility expects to build a future technological alliance between South Korea and Vietnam and promote technological innovation through cooperation in mobility-related fields between the two countries. In particular, by enhancing the convenience and accessibility of mobility service platforms for visitors and tourists recovering after the recent endemic, it anticipates contributing to the successful achievement of the '2023?2024 Visit Korea Year' by attracting overseas tourists in the long term.

Meanwhile, Kakao Mobility declared 2022 as its inaugural year for global expansion and has been pursuing overseas market entry since then. Last year, it marked the beginning of globalizing the Korean-style mobility platform by directly applying Kakao T’s technology infrastructure in Guam, part of the Americas region. In January this year, to enhance global competitiveness through targeting the Southeast Asian market, it signed a business agreement with LVMH Holdings, a national company in Laos, and is currently building a dedicated local service platform.
