Yeonggwang-gun Successfully Hosts the National Disabled Archery Championship

Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jong-man) announced on the 20th that the 3rd President's Cup National Disabled Archery Championship and the 3rd 2024 National Team Selection Tournament, held over four days from the 15th to the 18th at Yeonggwang Sportium General Stadium, concluded successfully.

The county estimated the economic effect of this tournament, which involved 36 teams nationwide and over 1,000 athletes and officials in total, to be around 100 million KRW.

Yeonggwang-gun successfully hosted the 3rd Association President's Cup National Disabled Archery Championship and the 2024 National Team 3rd Selection Competition from the 15th to the 18th at the Yeonggwang Sportium General Stadium.

This archery competition was decided by very close matches in every game. It clearly demonstrated why the South Korean national team selection tournaments are said to be several times more intense than international competitions.

After the final tournament on the 18th, the champions were ▲ Recurve Men's Division ? Kwak Geon-hwi (Gyeongnam), Women's Division ? Lee Hwa-sook (Seoul) ▲ Compound Men's Division ? Jang Ho-sik (Daejeon), Women's Division ? Choi Na-mi (Daejeon) ▲ W1 Men's Division ? Park Hong-jo (Seoul), Women's Division ? Kim Ok-geum (Gwangju).

In the overall rankings, Seoul took first place with 12 gold medals, followed by Gwangju with 8 gold medals in second place, and Daejeon with 7 gold medals in third place.

All archers who participated in the tournament overcame physical limitations and achieved results through perseverance, becoming heroes regardless of the outcome. One of the athletes expressed gratitude by recalling each person who helped during the training process and shared that without their support, competing in the tournament would not have been possible.

Following the successful conclusion of this archery tournament, the county plans to hold the 2023 Yeonggwang Beopseongpo Dano Festival Ssireum Tournament and the Presidential Cup National Ssireum King Jeollanam-do Selection Tournament over three days from the 23rd to the 25th at the special Ssireum stadium in Beopseongpo New Town.
