WSI announced on the 19th that it successfully held the Cadaver Workshop.
The workshop, titled ‘2023 CIBEC Week,’ was held on the morning of the 17th at the Catholic Applied Anatomy Research Institute of Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital.
With over 20 domestic spine specialists in attendance, products from RIWOspine, a German company specializing in spinal endoscopy, and ZimVie, a U.S.-based global spinal implant company, were introduced. The event was organized to enhance understanding of the products through demonstrations using cadavers.
Participants included Honorary Director Kim Ki-taek and Director Shin Jae-heung of Dongtan City Hospital, Director Park Geun-ho of Jeonju Goryeo Hospital, Professor Heo Jung-woo of Eunpyeong St. Mary’s Hospital, Director Shin Kyung-hyun of Samsung Big Hospital, Director Kim Jae-hyun of Ansan 21st Century Hospital, Professor Lee Joon-ho of Kyung Hee Medical Center, and Professor Park Si-young of Severance Hospital. Lectures and practical sessions on the principles and techniques of endoscopic spine surgery and cervical artificial disc replacement (ADR) were conducted for domestic specialists in cervical and lumbar spine fields.
Dirk Goethel, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of RIWOspine, and Pinky Ho, Asia Marketing Manager of ZimVie, each presented their company’s products.
WSI signed contracts to distribute RIWOspine’s rigid spinal endoscope and ZimVie’s cervical artificial disc Mobi-C® in the domestic market for the first time in Korea. In March, WSI also signed an exclusive distribution agreement with ZimVie Korea for ZimVie’s spinal implants. RIWOspine has maintained a strong global partnership with WSI since 2015.

A WSI representative stated, "Through this workshop, we aim to contribute to the advancement of domestic spinal endoscopic surgery by introducing minimally invasive spinal endoscopic surgeries using various spine-related products distributed by WSI in Korea." They added, "We will accelerate the expansion of medical device education and spinal medical device business by establishing a spinal endoscopy training and promotion center at our new headquarters."
