A 'Sanlim Sagwanhakgyo' to Open in Gyeongbuk... First Recruitment of Forestry Expert Trainees
Full Tuition Free in the First Year, Strengthening Forestry Competencies
A unique ‘Military Academy’ is emerging in Gyeongbuk, selecting its first cadets. It is a Forestry Military Academy that trains professional foresters.
On the 19th, Gyeongbuk Province announced that it is recruiting trainees for the ‘2023 1st Gyeongsangbuk-do Forestry Military Academy’ to promote startups, employment, income increase, and revitalization in the professional forestry sector.
The Gyeongbuk Forestry Military Academy is a project newly launched this year by Gyeongbuk Province to cultivate future forestry talents.
To increase trainee participation, the entire tuition fee will be free for this year.
The training will be conducted from July 10 to November 15 over four months at the Korea Forestry Cooperative Federation’s Comprehensive Forestry Training Institute (Cheongsong-gun), designated by the Korea Forest Service as a specialized forestry education institution under the Act on the Promotion of Forestry and Mountain Village Development.
The curriculum consists of three courses: ① Youth Forester Startup (Entrepreneurship) ② Increasing Forest Income (Income) ③ Catch the Forest Youth JOB (Employment).
Each course includes 14 to 15 sessions (15 sessions for the Catch the Forest Youth JOB course), totaling 100 hours of theoretical education, practical training, field trips, and discussions.
According to the characteristics of each course, △ ‘Youth Forester Startup’ targets young foresters in Gyeongbuk Province aged 20 to under 60 who wish to manage forestry businesses or start a business △ ‘Increasing Forest Income’ targets foresters in Gyeongbuk Province △ ‘Catch the Forest Youth JOB’ targets students (including graduates) of forestry-related high schools and universities in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, and residents of Daegu who manage forestry businesses in Gyeongbuk Province can also participate.
The Increasing Forest Income course will prioritize applicants registered as forestry business operators, and considering that the Catch the Forest Youth JOB course targets high school and university students, a three-week residential training will be held during the vacation period (July 10 to July 28) using the dormitory at the Comprehensive Forestry Training Institute.
Completing the Gyeongbuk Forestry Military Academy curriculum qualifies trainees for the requirement of ‘completion of more than 40 hours of forestry education,’ which is necessary to be selected as a forestry successor.
The recruitment period for trainees is from the 19th to the 3rd of next month, with 25 people recruited per course. Applicants can fill out the ‘2023 Gyeongsangbuk-do Forestry Military Academy Education Application Form’ posted on the Korea Forestry Cooperative Federation’s Comprehensive Forestry Training Institute website and apply via email or fax.
